Laboratory Reporting Form


 

The majority of lab write-ups will be done in Standard Lab Form. When asked to do a lab write-up it will be done as follows:

Pre-Lab: To be done the day before the lab

1pt. Title Page

2pts. Purpose: (Give the purpose or the objectives of the lab) State why we are doing the lab.

2pts. Hypothesis: If applicable state what you think might happen before actually performing the lab.

2pts. Materials: List all the equipment and materials needed to perform the entire lab.

3pts. Procedure: List the procedure used in such a way that another student following your descriptions could easily duplicate the lab.

Post Lab Write-up: Includes the Pre-lab

4pts. Data: Data is numerical, graphs, drawings, charts, tables and/or verbal descriptions.

4pts. Discussion: This might include any questions answered for the lab.

12pts. Conclusion: This is the most important part and should be the final result of your experiment. Tell me what you did, what happened, and why you had the results that you did. Include in the conclusion shortcomings of the lab, possible source of error and an overall statement about what the lab accomplished. Be sure to respond to your original hypothesis and compare your results with your expectations.
