Research Paper Requirements

 

 

  1. Preliminary topic
  2. Notecards: at least 200 notecards
  3. Detailed topic
    1. Description of the topic with at least 4 major focus areas and some subcategories
  4. Sources: at least 10 sources
    1. a combination of books, periodicals, and other sources (at least 3 books)
    2. at least one interview
  5. Bibliography: MLA format, Works Cited, at least 10 sources listed and cited in the actual paper
  6. Outline: a formal outline showing the main areas of focus and subcategories
  7. Paper length: 18 page minimum
    1. double spaced, Times Roman 12 pt., 1 inch margins
    2. Three drafts
  8. Graphics and Charts: at least 3 appropriate graphics or charts to supplement your research paper
  9. Internal Citations: you must cite all specific information and quotations in your paper (generally at least one citation per paragraph)
  10. Quotations: you must include at least 5 illuminating quotations in the paper

First 50 notecards:                                            Tuesday, September 11th

Second 50 notecards:                                       Wednesday, September 19th

Detailed topic:                                                  Friday, September 21st

Third 50 notecards:                                           Wednesday, September 26th  

Fourth 50 notecards:                                         Wednesday, October 3rd

Outline:                                                 Friday, October 5th

Bibliography:                                                    Tuesday, October 9th

First Draft:                                                        Friday, October 26th                

Second Draft:                                                   Thursday, November 1st

Final Draft:                                                       Wednesday, November 14th
Multi-media Presentation (first draft)                 Friday, December 7th

Multi-media Presentation D2 (final draft)           Friday, December 14th  

Actual Presentations                                         Thursday, December 20th  

 

 

The Senior Thesis multi-media presentations will be given on Thursday, December 20th. During the remainder of the semester we will focus on careers (resume, cover letter, application, mock interview, shadow day, mentor, etc.) and on college applications and scholarships.
