1. conjure: To summon by magical power, to bring to mind

He was no longer able to conjure a clear image of his long, lost mother in his mind.
2. chide:
To scold mildly so as to correct or improve

The mother chided her son for leaving his backpack in the middle of the livingroom.
3. dank: Disagreeably damp or humid

The dank room was dark and moldy, desperately needing fresh air.
4. dote: To show excessive fondness or love

The granfather doted on his only grandaughter and ignored his ten grandsons.
5. feign:  To represent falsely; pretend to

The girl feigned sickness in order to miss a day of school
6. mar: To wreck the perfection of; spoil

The boy's perfect attendance was marred by a single tardy that was caused by his little sister.
7. strife: A struggle, fight, or quarrel

The strife of slaves to survive was so challenging that many died young.
8. vex: to annoy, to bother

The 9 year old was incredibly vexing with her constant whining and begging.
9. wanton: undisciplined, playful, spoiled, immoral, loose

His wanton study skills led to poor grades.
10 woe: Deep distress or misery, as from grief

She felt great woe for the death of her dog.
