Wednesday 5/7             Complete the timed writing on “On the Want of Money.” Due tomorrow. Thursday 5/8            Work on your short story and study literary terms. Short stories due Thursday, May 15. Friday 5/9            Study literary terms and work on your short story. Due May 15. Homework Assignments: Week 33 Monday 4/28             Finish your SNT: I was so frustrated. Tuesday 4/29            Work your SNT: They were so obnoxious, conceited, rough, etc. Make sure you show the personality with dialogue and physical description. Due Friday, at least 2 pages. Wednesday 4/30            Work on revising one of your timed writings from the last few weeks. Be sure to improve your content (based on class discussion and writing notes) and then to improve your writing style by revising for precise, active verbs, for sentence variety (long and short, varied beginnings), and for mature academic voice. Bring it to class tomorrow because we will work on improving style in class tomorrow. Thursday 5/1            Finish revising your timed writing and your personality SNT. Study literary terms. Friday 5/2            Read in your IR book. Be prepared to take at least one IR test by Friday May, 9th. Study literary terms for the AP exam and the final.   Old assignments Monday 5/8 Finish the SNT: S/he was too nice. Begin brainstorming for your short story. Your story should have one or two main characters with different personalities, a conflict that can be resolved by the end of the story, and lots of showing writing. Remember to plan a simple plot unless you want to write a 20 page story. Final drafts should be at least 5 pages long. Write down some ideas to show me on Tuesday. Tuesday 5/9 Write the SNT: I acted so confident, but was really terrified. Continue thinking of ideas for your short story. We will start writing in class on Thursday.
